A committed player in its region, Maison Dourthe outlines its values and its project

The ambition is clear: to reveal all the character and diversity of the Bordeaux terroirs and play an active role in shaping the Bordeaux wines of tomorrow.

Maison Dourthe has always had a passion for its terroirs since it was founded in 1840. It is now present on both banks of the river through its Châteaux, and more widely throughout the region via its partner winegrowers. As such, it encompasses all the aspects of Bordeaux wine. Vine-growing, winemaking, blending, selection and maturing… this combination of a high level of skill and expertise is what defines the company.

The team is united around three core values:

Humility in our work with the power of ever-changing nature, and respect for the soil and the vine.

The freedom to think outside the box in order to keep forging ahead, one vintage after another.

The desire to share with as many people as possible. Maison Dourthe is driven by a deeply-held belief that wine is by nature a source of exchanges and authentic pleasures.

If Dourthe boasts great strength today, it is thanks to the collective efforts of its team: their ability to share and challenge themselves to produce great and sincere wines which respect the environment, biodiversity and people. All the properties have HVE3 and Terra Vitis® environmental certification, and all surpass the guidelines specified by these labels in many respects. The House also accompanies its winemaking partners on the road towards responsible, virtuous viticulture.

As a new vintage begins to take shape, Spring 2021 brings with it the creation of a new visual identity. The new logo with a strong, modern font is sublimated by an emblem, honouring the ties between Maison Dourthe and the lands of its origins. The new “Crafting Bordeaux wines since 1840” signature is a reference to how far we have come and where we will be heading tomorrow.

Dourthe offering is structured around four ranges that echo one another:

  • Iconic appellations: Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Émilion… (N°1 and La Grande Cuvée)
  • Fruit in all its purity (Promesse in Organic Agriculture)
  • Châteaux nurtured to bring out their fullest potential
  • Groundbreaking estate wines (Essence and Les Parcellaires in 2022)

Through all its wines, Maison Dourthe is passionately committed to revealing the character of Bordeaux’s terroirs.
