The year got off to a great start: early bud burst and spring growth ran smoothly, largely due to a wet winter ideal for growth in the vine. Even flowering was blessed with good conditions at the end of May and throughout June; coulure was very limited in the Merlots which are usually quite prone.

A spate of particularly dry weather lasting several weeks then ensued, causing significant early water stress. Thankfully any concerns were soon assuaged with the return of moderate rainfall in August to save the day and promote veraison. September was sunny with cool nights, offering optimum maturity and perfectly healthy grapes. The harvest was therefore conducted with a precise, “haute-couture” approach, as a result of careful supervision using detailed plot by plot – and even row by row – management of the vines to assess with accuracy ideal ripeness levels in each zone.

Vinifications reveal Merlots with remarkable concentration, creating a silky wine with intense fruit, complemented by the Cabernet Francs imparting volume and depth. The wines express all the finesse and typical character expected from Grand Barrail Lamarzelle Figeac.

2015 will most definitely be one of our finest!
