La Terrasse de La Garde Rouge
Second Vin du Château La Garde Rouge - AOC Pessac-Léognan
La Terrasse de La Garde is the second red wine of Château La Garde, Pessac-Léognan. The result of extensive research into the terroir and of all the renovations carried out in the vineyard and winery, this wine displays a delicate balance of intensity and softness. Its fruit-driven elegance makes this ideally appreciated in its youth.
Vinification & Ageing
Pre-fermentation cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation, with very few manipulations (pumping-over, pigeage). Malolactic fermentation partially in barrels.
Ageing in barrels takes place in an arched underground cellar with air-conditioning for 12-14 months. Cooperage savoir-faire and oak selection are combined when choosing the barrels so that they are best suited to the characteristics and style of Château La Garde wines.

Very clean and supple on the attack, the wine becomes more generous and rounded, while fine tannins and appealing freshness bring structure. “Although this is, strictly speaking, still a little too young, when decanted it’s a lovely classy claret. Put a few bottles away and it will mellow even more. It’s rare to see wines of this calibre on supermarket shelves!”
BEST FOR BOXING DAY
(...) I love a good christmas claret - the old English term for the red wines of bordeaux and with bags of cherry and plum fruit flavours, this one more than fits the bill. (...)
