シャトー・ラ・ガルドの歴史は18世紀にまで遡ります。ドゥルト社は、アペラシオン・ペサック・レオニャンでも最高レベルの品質を誇る丘の上に広がる、このまさに類まれなテロワールに魅せられて、1990年から再興事業に取り組んでまいりました。常にさらなる品質向上を念頭に、最適と考えられるブドウ農法を採用しています。各ブドウ樹の樹勢および収量の調節に、畑では夏季シーズン中も数多くの作業を実施しています。また、シャトー・ラ・ガルドは、自然環境と人間を尊重し配慮した上で高品質ブドウの生産に取り組む「統合農法」を他に先駆けて採用したワイナリーとしても知られています。色調のたくましさ、鮮やかさ... シャトー・ラ・ガルドの赤ワインはそのストラクチュアと凝縮性の高さから、長期熟成に適したスタイルのワインです。丸みとしなやかさ、甘美な味わい... そこにはテロワールのエレガンスとフィネスが詰まっています。

醸造および育成・熟成

一部のロットに対して低温マセレーション(スキンコンタクト)を実施しています。アルコール発酵中の循環作業(ルモンタージュあるいはピジャージュ)は控えめです。マロラクティック発酵には一部、樽を使用しています。

樽内で12〜14か月間育成。収容樽数2000樽の育成・熟成庫は、ヴォールト天井づくりの地下構造です。樽は柾目材からセレクションし、複数樽業者の「ノウハウ」を信頼し、シャトー・ラ・ガルドのワインのスタイルに最適な樽を厳選しています。

2012 - 2011 - 2010 -

ヴィンテージ

2016年上半期は、極めて雨の多い、そして温暖な天候が続きました。おかげで、その後のブドウ畑にとっては非常に有益な水分補給が、理想的な形で進みました。6月中旬以降は安定した好天が広がり、かなり乾燥した空模様が収穫まで続きました。9月中旬には少量ではありましたが雨に恵まれました。シャトー・ラ・ガルドの深度のある礫質土壌に育つ赤ワイン品種に関しては着色のスタートが遅く、この雨は着色に勢いをつけるに十分でした。土壌はたっぷりと水分を蓄えており、気温に関しても、日中には過度な気温上昇もなかった一方、夜間はかなり冷涼で、その結果、果実は順調に生育し、成熟期にはアロマの生成が促進されています。ブドウ果実は収穫までの時期、昼夜の日較差を存分に享受して生長しました。収穫は「アラカルト的」に、104日から18日の期間、品種ごと、栽培区画ごとに理想的熟度に達するのを待って実施しました。

テイスティングコメント

非常に深みのある、ほとんど黒色の外観。黒果実(ブラックベリー、ビガロー種チェリー)、そしてスモークやスパイスのノートをふくむ、複雑で濃厚な香り。口にふくむとたちまち芳醇な風味が広がり、表現ゆたかな、濃醇で深みのある果実味が印象的です。たくましさを感じさせ、かつ甘美で上品なタンニンが全体を引き立てています。調和のとれたエレガントな風味が後味まで余韻となって残ります。

Deep ruby/purple-colored, medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a mouthfilling texture, I’d happily drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years.

What a great nose this has! The integration of black fruit and oak is spot on. Powerful, but with classical elegance, thanks to the polished tannins and the cool, mineral freshness that extends right through the long, refined finish. The best vintage ever from this chateau. Drink or hold.

Slick, focussed and full of tannins and plush fruit, this has got to be one of the best wines produced from this estate, along with the 2015. It's worth bearing in mind that you'll want to wait another few years before opening it, as it remains pretty strict in its structure. Contemporary in style.

十分な日照と気温、乾燥した天候と、非常に良好なコンディションのもとで1年のスタートを切りました。開花は非常に均質で、ラ・ガルドの平均的な日程より1週間ほど早めに進みました。粘土質上で栽培されているメルロは、6月および7月の暑く乾燥した天候に悩まされることもありませんでした。一方で、干ばつに弱い礫質のテロワールに対しては、冷涼な土壌下層部を保護する目的で軽く耕起を行ないました。こうすることで水分蒸発の通り道となる亀裂がくずれ、また、土壌表面を被覆する草との水分競合も抑制されました。7月末から8月初旬にかけてはブドウ畑の衛生状態も申し分なく、適度な降雨にも恵まれ、7月の猛暑で減速していた着色にも勢いがつきました。8月は時期相応の気温に恵まれ、夜間も冷涼で、赤ワイン品種に関しては、上質なタンニンおよびアントシアンの合成が促進されました。収穫は3週間にわたって落ち着いて作業を行ない、粘土質上のメルロはもちろん、深度のある礫質台地上のカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨン、プティ・ヴェルドともに素晴らしい仕上がりです。

テイスティングコメント

非常に深みのある、ほとんど黒色の外観。2015年ラ・ガルドは紫かかった光沢で包まれています。濃厚かつ複雑な果実香とともに焙煎やスモークのノートも香り立ちます。アタックから非常にしなやかで、たちまち芳醇な味わいの広がりが得られます。表現ゆたかな果実味と濃醇さ、深さが印象的。たくましさを感じさせつつ、甘美で上品な織り目のタンニンが全体を引き立てています。バランスよく調和した味わいは後味まで続き、長い余韻となって残ります。

年初めの状況はその後を十分に期待させるものでしたが、夏の天候は不十分で、果実成熟のスタートにも遅れが生じました。8月末には絶好の好天が続き、不安感は払拭されました。同ヴィンテージの成功のカギを握っていたのはなによりも秋口の素晴らしい空模様でした。同時に、傷みのない、衛生状態も完璧な果実に育てるために、ブドウ畑では並々ならぬ努力が払われており、その努力なしにはこれほどまでハイレベルな果実の収穫は不可能だったでしょう。入念な作業と絶好のインディアンサマーのおかげで、粘土質上で栽培されているメルロは、ばらつきなく、均質に完熟状態に実りました。深度のある礫質上で栽培されているカベルネ・ソーヴィニヨンとプティ・ヴェルドに対して少しばかり早熟傾向です。上質な赤に仕上がるポテンシャルは十分と判断し、長めの果皮浸漬を実施しました。熟度を感じさせ、濃厚でアロマゆたかなワインで、芳醇でしっかりと力強いタンニンの素材感が楽しめます。

テイスティングコメント

深みのあるルビー色の、濃厚な外観。香りは濃く、みずみずしく、ペサック・レオニャン特有のスモーキーなノートが香ります。味わいは実に芳醇で、濃密なタンニン・ストラクチュアが広がります。トースト香からは巧みに溶け込んだ樽の香りが立ち、後味へと進むにつれますます風味の濃醇さが印象的です。シャトー・ラ・ガルドの珠玉のテロワールを見事に表現した、秀逸なバランスのワインです。

耕作は入念に、夏季の栽培作業はピンポイントで適時に実施し、とにかく最適な熟度での収穫を念頭に、樹勢および水分バランスの適切な管理に努めました。合理的ブドウ栽培(レゾネ農法)を数年前から実践しており、シャトーのテロワールに関する知識や理解も十分に深まっています。今シーズンは花の時期には異例の雨と寒気、夏には雹・霰まじりの雷雨に見舞われるなど、一寸たりとも肩の力を抜く間はありませんでしたが、的確な対処ができたと自負しています。一筋縄ではいかなかったヴィンテージですが、上質な果実の収穫に成功しています。赤ワイン用ブドウは畑および蔵にて選果を行ない、作業スタッフを増員して厳選に厳選を重ねました。

テイスティングコメント

暗く深みのある赤色の外観。ディスク部分はいまだ紫かかっています。香りに関しては、しっかり熟した赤果実のアロマと、スパイス、さらにはペサック・レオニャンのテロワールにしばしば特有のスモーク香が交じり合っています。果実熟度の高さは肉づきとバランスの素晴らしさからも明らかで、たくましく、かつ丸みのあるタンニンが全体を支えています。樽香は巧みに溶け込んでおり、粘性の高い、芳醇な風味が全体を包みこみます。後味の余韻も長く、最後まで素晴らしい調和を奏でます。

とにかく忍耐を要したヴィンテージです!初夏には重度の生長の遅れが観測されましたが、8月および9月には好天が続き、状況は改善しました。ただ、果実粒の選果には厳しい基準を設けなくてはならず、この年のラ・ガルドの生産量は顕著に低減しています。 

赤ワイン用ブドウは熟度が最適レベルに高まるのを待って、収穫開始はギリギリまで、10月5日まで待ちました。収穫開始後には不安定な天候に見舞われましたが、果実の衛生状態に大きな影響は出ていません。ただ、リスク回避の意味でも、メルロからカベルネに移る際にも途中に中断を入れることなく収穫を行わざるを得ませんでした。

テイスティングコメント

濃厚で深みのある外観。完熟果実やリコリスと同時に、ペサック・レオニャンのテロワールにしばしば見られるスモークのノートを含む、甘美な香りが広がります。味わいに関しては、たくましさを備えつつ、繊細で丸みのあるタンニン。粘性のある見事な芳醇さと果肉感によって包み込まれています。余韻の長い、バランスのよい後味まで、調和のとれた風味が継続します。後味に感じる樽香はうまく溶け込んでいます。

濃厚で鮮やかな美しい外観。深みのある赤色。香りにはスパイス、完熟果実(カシス)が特徴的で、ほのかにバニラも香ります。しなやかなアタックに続いて芳醇さが増し、主張のある、かつ繊細なタンニンが全体を支えています。焙焦系の芳ばしいノートを含む長い余韻が印象的です。

A spectacular Bordeaux in every sense: top-drawer complexity, layering, balance, depth and length on the finish. This is the flagship wine of this house, and it declassifies 50% of production to maintain incredibly high standards vintage after vintage. The vines are planted in all the proto-typical Bordeaux soils: gravel, clay and limestone. The current owners purchased this chateau in 1990. On top of all this, the 2010 vintage was a terrific one so this is a great wine for your cellar still, and decant 1-2 hours when you open it. Dark fruit and smoke but not overwhelmed with oak -- no cover-ups here just pure mastery. Pair with a rare steak. Absolutely superb, especially for the price. Wow.

It is quite firm in the mouth, solid but nicely composed on the concentrated finish. Tasted January 2013.

After the redesign of the vineyard at this CVBG-owned property, the investment is paying off. This is rich, perfumed and slightly spicy, with stylish oak and fresh acidity adding extra layer. The Cabernet certainly makes its presence felt given its comparatively small (numerical) contribution.

Tatsted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southworld. This is a surprising, delightful wine that surpassed many more famous names. The La Garde 2007 has an attractive nose with dark cherries, raspberry and a fair amount of vanillary oak, but maintaining good delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, nice grip with a good weight on the finish. It will take some time for the oak to be subsumed, but this is still very finely made. Tasted January 2011.

**** Spicy nose with lots of juicy and sweet cassis, black fruits and toasted oak. More sweet fruits and firm tannins on the palate with an elegant, generous fruit concentration and a nice cedar spice flavour on the finish. Oak is well-handled but needs time to soften up.

Dark crimson. Sweet almost chocolate raisin-like appeal on the nose. The rich palate entry and reasonably gentle, relatively soft tannins. It’s interesting that, tasting this among a range of Dourthe wines from several different appellations, this is the first to show gentle tannins on the finish. Does this signal good things for the Pessac-Léognan appellation as a whole?
