Chateau La Garde White
Château La Garde Pessac-Léognan Blanc is only produced in limited quantity. Planted on a vein of deep limestone, Sauvignon Blanc is the majority variety in the blend, imparting the wine with rare aromatic precision and chiselled mineral character, underpinned by impressive length. Semillon is the perfect finishing touch to the blend and brings depth, harmony and full flavours.
Tasting notes
Very expressive on the nose, the wine is driven by a wide range of citrus aromas (lemon, grapefruit). The palate is lively and powerful from the first sip, with beautiful density and marked energy. The fine, structuring bitterness adds depth and length. The whole remains perfectly balanced between freshness, tension, and aromatic intensity. The long, saline finish prolongs this sensation of precision and brilliance. A white wine at once powerful, chiseled, and very elegant.
The vintage
Born of a mild, dry winter, the 2025 vintage began under good omen. Budbreak took place in excellent conditions, preserving the vineyard’s potential despite naturally low fertility following the 2024 vintage. After a rainy spell at Easter, a warm, dry period set in from May onwards. Flowering, early and very uniform, began around May 23rd and led to high-quality fruit set. In the appellation, slightly more abundant rainfall in May and June than elsewhere in the Gironde region limited water stress. Moderate conditions before veraison, observed on July 27th, promoted polyphenol synthesis and strong tannic potential. The very hot first half of August accelerated ripening. The whites are harvested August 19 to 27, to preserve good balance.
